This free event, co-hosted by Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the Local Government Association (LGA), the NHS Confederation and Universities UK brought together leaders from across local government, higher education and health and care to explore the local partnerships necessary to deliver the Industrial Strategy.

In particular we drew on practical lessons from two cross-sector flagship programmes run throughout 2017-18: the Local Growth Academy and Leading Places Programme, which focused on the role of Anchor Institutions and place-based leadership to drive Local and Inclusive Growth.

Download the full programme here.

Keynote presentations included Professor John Goddard, Emeritus Professor Newcastle University and Deputy Chair, UPP Foundation Civic University Commission, and Jonathan Schifferes, Interim Director, Public Services and Communities at the RSA. Download John's presentation and Jonathan's presentation.

The event explored some of the work of the Local Growth Academy and Leading Places; two national leadership programmes supported in the past year by the NHS Confederation, HEFCE, the LGA and Universities UK. For details of all the breakout session presentations please visit the LGA’s Leading Places webpage.
