We are concerned that people who are in mental health crisis are not consistently triggering an appropriate response time from ambulance trusts, as the two triage tools approved for use by the Department of Health focus in the main on physical conditions.

This submission is based on joint work between NHSCC’s member networks The National Ambulance Commissioners Network and the Mental Health Commissioners Network; and the Association for Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE), the College of Paramedics, and NHS Pathways. It focuses on the response time and transportation of people in mental health crisis.
