As we move to phase three of the NHS’s response to COVID-19, there is increased pressure for non-COVID health services to return to near normal activity levels without reverting to the old ways of working and their layers of transactional bureaucracy.

As part of our new ‘Evolving Commissioning’ series, NHSCC has developed a tool to help commissioners capitalise on the recent opportunities for improved system working as they review their core functions in light of the next phase of the COVID response.

We hope this tool, based on CCG and ICS feedback and examples, can help your journey to work differently as strategic commissioners at system and place level as well as being a useful reference for your system partners as to where commissioning functions might sit in the future.
