Responding to the latest Welsh Government update of Coronavirus restrictions in Wales, Darren Hughes, director of the Welsh NHS Confederation said:

“It’s excellent news that the current situation allows us to enjoy more freedoms as we head tentatively back towards normality. This has only been possible thanks to the hard work and sacrifices that the people of Wales have made over the last few months.

“Although pressure on the NHS from Covid is easing, we must remember that we we are only now at the halfway point of the vaccination programme. We need the public to continue to stick to the rules so that we have the best possible chance to prevent new variants from emerging and managing any new outbreaks in our communities.

“The high levels of vaccine uptake across Wales are really encouraging, and the fantastic progress of delivery is down to the hard work and dedication of all those involved in delivering the vaccination programme.”
