NHS Confederation responds to COVID-19 vaccines for five- to 11-year-olds in England

Ruth Rankine, director of primary care at NHS Confederation, responds to the vaccine programme extension for children

16 February 2022

Ruth Rankine, director of primary care at NHS Confederation, said:

"Today’s announcement of the extension of the vaccination programme to all five- to 11-year-olds is another positive step in fighting the pandemic. Primary care teams up and down the country have been working hard to vaccinate all age groups and will be ready to take on this new cohort."

"Experience of our members so far is that communication to the public must be targeted and clear on the benefits to enable as many people as possible to be vaccinated. The benefits of the vaccine, even if children have already had COVID-19, need to be made clear."
