Launch of the ICB Health Inequalities Assurance Framework
Tackling health inequalities is at the heart of the role of Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and needs to be centred throughout the very core of the organisations. We held an online launch of our new ICB Health Inequalities Assurance Framework, commissioned by NHS England.
You can download the slides from this page and the full framework can be found on our website.
We worked with ICB leaders to co-create the framework, which was developed specifically to support ICB board members and it is designed to help ICBs to measure their own progress against the five key national priorities on health inequalities – outlined below - alongside the three shifts outlined in the Ten-Year Health Plan – prevention, digital and community.
- Governance and Accountability
- Strategic Commissioning
- Compliance
- The Commissioning Process
- Evaluating and Embedding
This tool supports ICBs to improve in alignment with all these key priorities and to showcase what good looks like for their board to assess themselves against.
Benefits of using the framework:
- Improvement tool – supports through strategic commissioning to improve health inequalities experienced by their population and also improve population health
- Practical help to meet policy and legal requirements
- Helps to meet ICB objectives in the Model ICB and Ten-Year Health Plan
- Helps to form a picture of what good looks like to measure against and develop actions to improve
