Responding to the National Oversubscribing Review Report, Dr Graham Jackson, Chair of NHS Clinical Commissioners, part of the NHS Confederation, said:

“We welcome the National Overprescribing Review, published by the Department of Health and Social Care. It has been developed using wide input from across a range of organisations and there is consensus that health systems can make use of ongoing reforms to improve how they work together to tackle this issue.

“Health and care organisations, including pharmacists, community pharmacists and GPs, are already working together as part of local Integrated Care Systems to help improve services, reduce overprescribing, therefore freeing up resources which can be put back into front line patient care.

“We recently published our own report on how health systems can best work in a collaborative way to support clinicians optimise use of medicines and improve health outcomes.”
