Clarity on expectations for cancer care improvement welcomed
NHS leaders are committed to doing more, as they know how important it is to get this right, says Darren Hughes.
Responding to the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care’s written update on cancer care, director of the Welsh NHS Confederation Darren Hughes said:
“NHS leaders, patients and the public will welcome clarity on plans and next steps to improve cancer care in Wales.
“Although there are plans, programmes, networks, metrics and so on, this is ultimately about improving experience and outcomes for patients, whose lives this affects most.
“Exceptional cancer care is delivered every day in Wales, but NHS leaders are committed to doing more, as they know how important it is to get this right. The NHS will continue to work closely with the Welsh Government and other stakeholders to enhance cancer care and outcomes in Wales.”
