Governance and accountability

Our charitable purpose is “the relief of sickness and the preservation and protection of public health”.

The NHS Confederation is a charitable company, registered with the Charity Commission (1090329) and Companies House (04358614). We are governed by a Board of Trustees and are subject to the regulations of both the Charity Commission and Companies House.

We also have a subsidiary trading company, The NHS Confederation (Services) Company Limited, through which all of our non-charitable activity is managed, such as conferences, sponsorship and exhibitions.

Remuneration Committee

The Remuneration Committee agrees the remuneration for the directors, considers any staff pay awards and oversees the pay and reward strategy for the organisation. It is chaired by Owen Williams and the other trustee members are Julia Hickey and Graham Jackson.

Scheme of Delegation

Our Scheme of Delegation sets out who has the authority to make decisions across the organisation and specifically who can authorise expenditure.

Register of Interests

Our register of interests lists all interests declared by our directors, trustees and independent members of audit committee.

Annual report and financial statements

The NHS Confederation produces financial statements which are filed with Companies House. Read our 2018/19 Annual Report and Financial Statements for further information.
