Sonya Cullington
Sonya Cullington is a strategic health communications leader, cyberpsychologist, and NHS transformation specialist with extensive experience spanning international health policy, national strategy, and community-led behavioural science campaigns. She has been working at the intersection of communications, technology, and psychology for several years, developing expertise in the ethical adoption of AI, emotionally intelligent communication, and the application of behavioural insights to public sector innovation.
A founding member of the NHS Communications AI Taskforce, Sonya sits on its board where she contributes strategic communications expertise, cyberpsychology insight, and AI skills development to help shape sector-wide strategy and resources. She is also Co-Chair of the NHS Communications AI Network, which brings together working groups on ethics, innovation, and evaluation. In this role, she champions transparent, inclusive, and practical AI workflows, ensuring adoption strengthens public trust and accessibility.
Sonya draws on both national and international experience to position communications professionals as ethical stewards of AI, ensuring that innovation enhances, rather than replaces, the human element of communication. Her work is driven by the principle that technology must support integrity, equity, and clarity in how health and care engage with the public.
