Dr Duncan Gooch
Duncan is chair of our Primary Care Network and is a dedicated GP and a prominent figure in the healthcare community of Derbyshire. With a career marked by innovation and leadership, he has significantly contributed to the improvement of primary care services and the training of future medical professionals.
Duncan trained at Nottingham University, where he developed a strong foundation in medical sciences. His education laid the groundwork for his future roles in healthcare, equipping him with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the medical field.
Duncan is currently based in Derbyshire, where he serves as a General Practitioner. He is the Managing Partner and Clinical Director of Erewash Health Partnership, a consortium of practices that provides healthcare services to over 100,000 people. His leadership in this role has been instrumental in advancing the quality and accessibility of primary care in the region.
In addition to his practice, he is a GP trainer, dedicated to educating and mentoring the next generation of General Practitioners. His commitment to training ensures that new doctors are well-prepared to meet the evolving challenges of healthcare.
From 2015 to 2018, Duncan led the national New Care Models Vanguard in Erewash. This initiative not only improved local healthcare delivery but also influenced national policy direction. In 2018, he played a pivotal role in founding the Erewash Health Partnership, fostering collaboration among local practices to enhance patient care.
Duncan holds a master's degree in Behaviour Change, reflecting his interest in leading organisational change through behavioural insights. His passion for this field has informed his approach to healthcare leadership and innovation.
Outside of his professional life, he is an avid rugby enthusiast. He volunteers at his local community rugby club, where he serves as president, fostering community spirit and promoting physical activity.
