Dr Aamir Munir
Dr Aamir Munir ('Mooney') is a vice-chair of our Primary Care Network and clinical director of transformation at Northumbria Primary Care. He has worked as a GP for over 20 years in Northumberland.
Scaled up primary care and what it can deliver for patients and communities has become a passion of Aamir and in 2018 he successfully supported the merger of three practices to form Valens, a single practice PCN serving 52,000 patients.
This scale ensured that local partners including the local foundation trust and mental health trust as well as social care have aligned their services to form successful frailty and complex mental health neighbourhood teams.
Aamir very much believes in supporting the growth of leaders in primary care and empowered teams within organisations.
Ensuring that primary care has a voice in our new systems is another key passion of Aamir, chairs an ICS wide PCN Clinical director forum, which feeds into a wider primary care collaborative including representation from Local Medical Committees, GP federations and pharmacy, optometry and dentistry services, of which he is co-chair.
Out of work, Aamir enjoys spending time with his wife Alison and their children, and supporting his favourite football team Newcastle United.
