Responding to the Better Together report by the Centre for Mental Health Louise Patten, director of integrated care systems at the NHS Confederation said:

“This report rightly recognizes the important role which integrated care systems can and will play in supporting better mental health for all, as well as their very important role in improving health and wellbeing in local communities and reducing health inequalities.

“Around 5 million people or 30 per cent of people with a long-term physical health condition, also have a mental health condition and we know that high-quality mental health provision brings significant benefits to the wider health and care sector.

Integrated Care Systems will also have a strategic role in helping to further join together mental and physical health care, as well as supporting the wellbeing of the health and care workforce.”
