Relaunch of the Operational Leaders Forum

After pausing earlier this year to refresh, we are happy to announce that we are relaunching our Operational Leaders Form, with the first meeting scheduled for 16 October at 12:30-2PM.
The group will be a space for operational leaders working within acute NHS trusts to learn from peers and influence national policy on topics from workforce to capital, transformation and technology, keeping the ever-present need for financial balance in the background at all times.
What’s in it for you?
- Learn from and collaborate with peers to share learning and challenges.
- Listen to guest speakers and learn from innovative best practices.
- Take part in interactive discussions to advocate on behalf of operational leaders and shape policy decisions based on what is really happening.
- Connect to wider improvement and leadership opportunities through this group.
What’s changed?
- We are delighted to share that the forum will now be chaired by Cheryl Muldoon, divisional director of operations at Oxford University Hospitals.
- The forum will meet quarterly for a 90-minute virtual meeting, to focus on creating the space for high-quality and interactive discussions, as well as allowing time for guest speakers and innovative case study presentations.
- As well as our regular topics, there will also be a focus on achieving financial balance.
- Alongside the forum meetings, we will also have an optional WhatsApp group.
When is it?
The first session on 16 October at 12:30-2PM will include a 45-minute interactive workshop hosted by the NHS Productivity Commission. The Commission’s co-chair Anita Charlesworth and members of the secretariat will set out some key questions around ‘transformation’ to explore with the group. We will then have 45 minutes to discuss any operational challenges, issues and solutions that you would like to share. Further details will be sent nearer the time.
Future dates:
- 14 January 2026 – 3:30–5PM
- 15 April 2026 – 12:30–2PM
- 15 July 2026 – 3:30–5PM
