Join the Health and Care Women Leaders Network on International Women’s Day 2024 (IWD2024) to celebrate and highlight work underway to progress gender equality and enhance inclusivity for women working in healthcare.
With a focus on the theme for IWD2024 #InspireInclusion, we will start the day with an early morning celebration on X, from 8.00am, celebrating the individuals who have inspired you on your leadership journey. Find out more and how you can take part here.
The celebrations will continue with a virtual event to be held on Zoom from 10am to 12.00pm where you will hear from NHS Chief Executive, Amanda Pritchard, our network chair, Samantha Allen and many more. You will also see presentations from organisations and fellow networks that are doing great work to progress gender equality and enhance inclusivity for women working in health and care.

Shera Chok, founder and chair of the Shuri Network, will discuss the network's efforts to advance diversity and inclusion in the digital workforce and leadership. Explore how these initiatives aim to create a more representative digital workforce, reflecting the broader health and care workforce and the diverse communities they serve.
The Shuri Network has hosted three Digital Fellowships, supporting nurses and midwives in becoming digital leaders and innovators. This programme promotes digital inclusion by extending training beyond software engineers and analysts. In this session, we'll also hear from a graduate of the Shuri Network Digital Fellowship, Victoria Komolafe.

This session will feature a panel discussion among male allies on the definition of allyship, how to effectively support others in the workplace, and the distinction between allyship and advocacy. We will also learn about the contributions of Simon and Hamid as allies.
Dr Nighat Arif, GP, NHS/Private
In this this inspiring and informative session, keynote speaker, Dr. Nighat Arif will deliver a session focusing on her 15+ year professional career journey as a General Practitioner specialising in Women's Health. Dr. Nighat will share insights from her expertise in family planning, contraception, menopause, and women's healthcare within Black and Asian communities.
Dawn Adams, Chair of Yorkshire Ambulance Service Women (YAS) Women and Allies Network
Vicky Connelly, Deputy Chair, YAS Women and Allies Network
Dawn Adams and Vicky Connelly lead a showcase for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Women and Allies Network initiative, ensuring the availability of free sanitary products in all female and accessible toilets. They will share the background of this project and how their network has collaborated with the Health and Well-being Team to make a positive difference, ensuring staff feel safe, supported, and cared for in the workplace.

Traice will share her final thoughts and reflections from the day.
