Despite the NHS remaining one of the most valued institutions in the UK, a decade of underinvestment, an unprecedented pandemic and rising demand from patients have left health and care services under extreme pressure. A new government will need to tackle this challenge decisively to put the NHS on sustainable footing and ensure that people can get the care and treatment they need.
