Lutra was founded by two Consultant Ophthalmologists (Sam Evans & Conor Ramsden) who grew frustrated with the lack of data sharing between community optometry and secondary care. Ophthalmology is responsible for 10% of all NHS outpatients visits and cataract represents 6% of all NHS surgeries.

By improving data transfer from community to secondary care, Lutra is making a big dent in the number of ophthalmology outpatient visits required. Eyecare benefits from having robust community infrastructure, with many patients defaulting to using their local optician for the eyecare needs. Opticians have the expertise and equipment to service the vast majority of patients, but data is not reaching ophthalmologists in secondary care. That's the gap Lutra is plugging.  

We have been running an NHS pilot with NHS Tayside for the past year, which has led to:

• 91% reduction in hospital outpatient visits
• referral-to-listing reduction from 6 months to 11 days
• surgical wait time reduction from 304 days to 133 days

Medefer offers exactly what the NHS urgently needs - capacity.

Medefer is a virtual outpatient provider working in partnership with the NHS to deliver faster access to specialist care for patients. The technology enables progression from outpatient recovery to sustainable transformation. Making complex and lengthy outpatient pathways a thing of the past. 

Using our software platform, GP referrals are reviewed and managed through to discharge online by the Medefer team of GMC-registered, specialist consultants. The service manages up to 75% of patients remotely, freeing up capacity for patients who need in-person visits. Founded in 2012 by Neil Daly, Skin Analytics builds AI interventions that create world-leading skin cancer pathways.

Skin Analytics’ AI as a medical device, DERM, is the only Class III CE marked medical device for dermatology. DERM is safe, evidence-backed and independently evaluated; it assesses, classifies and triages dermoscopic images of skin lesions for skin cancer with comparable accuracy to dermatologists.
