What is immersive learning?

Immersive learning is an advanced approach to leadership development that involves engaging, hands-on experiences designed to simulate real-world challenges. Our dynamic method helps senior health and social care leaders develop critical skills in a risk-free environment, accelerating their impact and growth, and building confidence.
Our immersive learning design is tailored to leaders’ needs and moving them out of traditional theoretical peer learning spaces, into experiences where they actively test out, rehearse and build their leadership availability.
Our approach is evolving and can combine various interventions, including simulation-based provocations, case method, case studies, collaborative learning and personal development exercises (see below for research that supports the efficacy of case method / immersive learning). Each component incorporates reflective learning activities to help leaders understand the impact of their decisions in high-stakes, complex healthcare environments.
These transformative experiences provide leaders with the tools and insights to navigate the complex decision-making processes within integrated care systems and beyond, equipping them to lead with agility and confidence in the face of ongoing change.
Leaders will engage in the immersive exercise and a reflective learning debrief designed to enhance their understanding of the decision-making process and leadership behaviours required under pressure. Through our membership insight, we are well placed to gather learning and data for the development of immersive learning / case method development.
