Key points

  • Following changes to the Health and Care Visa, the Cavendish Coalition wrote to the Prime Minister to raise concerns.

On Monday 4th December 2023, Rt Hon James Cleverly MP, Secretary of State for the Home Department, announced changes to the Health and Care Visa.

These changes applied only to the social care sector, not the NHS, but they will inevitably impact on the provision of NHS services. The changes will mean people emigrating to the UK to work in social care will not be able to bring dependents.

The Cavendish Coalition wrote to the Prime Minister to raise concern about these changes, particularly with regard to the lack of transition period.
