Will Smith

Will bring 25 years of NHS experience, beginning his career as a mental health nurse and progressing into senior leadership roles, including former Associate Director roles and currently Head of Nursing Safety and Inclusion. His work has consistently centred on suicide prevention, patient safety and improving patient experience.

Alongside his NHS career, he has conducted investigations for more than 20 years across a range of public service and private sector settings. He served as a Magistrate for over 12 years and has held scrutiny and governance roles that focus on fairness, accountability and public protection. He chaired the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council Equality Commission during the pandemic and acted as an independent scrutiny chair for the Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner for several years.

He also serves as an elected councillor, where he continues to champion equality, transparency and community engagement.

Across all of these roles, he bring a strong commitment to compassionate leadership, rigorous investigation and improving outcomes for the people and communities we serve.
