Robert Witton

Professor of Community Dentistry and Chief Executive

Robert Witton is a registered specialist in Dental Public Health. He is based at the University of Plymouth where he is Professor of Community Dentistry and Chief Executive of Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise CIC and is an active Consultant in Denal Public Health.

Robert has a broad portfolio of interests across education, clinical leadership, dental services, public health, social enterprise, and health policy. He has a particular interest in using a community approach in dental education and improving oral health outcomes for patients who cannot access dental care including disadvantaged groups. 

Robert has been instrumental in developing the Peninsula Dental School and its clinical arm PDSE CIC, PDSE has won numerous dental, education, business, sustainability and social impact awards for its work in providing primary care dental services in a socially responsible way. 

In 2019 he joined an alumni network of senior dentists across the world following his participation in the Senior Dental Leaders Programme hosted by Harvard University and Kings College London. Robert continues to work with international colleagues supporting development of dental education and dental public health programmes. 

Robert is passionate about preventing oral disease and promoting oral health in the UK and improving access to dental services and patient outcomes.
