Peter Lewis
Peter is the chief executive of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, which provides acute, community and mental health services across Somerset, as well as running general practice services for approximately 130,000 residents through its Symphony subsidiary. Somerset NHS Foundation Trust was formed by merging the three predecessor trusts in Somerset. Peter joined one of those predecessor trusts in 2005 as director of finance and performance. He became deputy chief executive in 2008 and took on the responsibility of chief operating officer in 2010, before being appointed as chief executive in 2017.
Peter was previously director of performance at Dorset and Somerset Strategic Health Authority, and also has experience in both commissioning and provider organisations prior to that. Peter is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He is also a member of our Acute Network advisory board.
