Minister of State for Health (Secondary Care)

Karin Smyth was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care on 8 July 2024. She has been serving as Member of Parliament for Bristol South since 2015. Karin Smyth worked as an NHS manager at Bristol Clinical Commissioning Group. She was a non-executive director of Bristol North PCT from 2002 to 2006. 

As Minister of State for Health (Secondary Care) she is responsible for:

  • NHS capital, land and estates
  • NHS finance
  • Urgent and emergency care
  • Health and social care integration
