Dr Andrew Campbell
Andrew studied pharmacy at Aston University after completing a degree in Chemistry at Sheffield University. He has a specialist interest in mental health and has worked in academia, primary care, intermediate care, the Strategic Health Authority and community services. He gained his Professional Doctorate in Pharmacy at Portsmouth University with research into Medicines Optimisation in Mental Health.
Over a career spanning more than fifteen years, Andrew Campbell has made an outstanding and sustained contribution to advancing pharmacy practice, shaping multidisciplinary education, and influencing the future of medicines optimisation regionally and nationally. Andrew's career reflects consistent leadership, innovation, and unwavering commitment to improving patient outcomes across mental health, community, acute and primary care settings.
Andrew has contributed to the development of the wider workforce as Visiting Lecturer at Birmingham City University, specialising in Evidence Based Medicine and Mental Health Therapeutics. His authorship of the Non Medical Prescribing chapter in the fourth edition of Advanced Practice in Healthcare has become an important contribution to a leading academic text, influencing countless healthcare professionals undertaking advanced practice roles.
In his role as Director of Pharmacy at Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust, he leads large, diverse teams across education, digital transformation and clinical services. Achievements include implementing a Trust wide out of hours service, establishing a Medicines Information Department, and developing an inclusive training programme for all registered and non registered staff. Under Andrews digital leadership, the team achieved three national awards and delivered region leading milestones such as EPMA implementation and EPS first of type status.
