Calum Meakin
Calum is a policy and delivery manager for our Primary Care Network. He joined the NHS Confederation in July 2024, following seven years working in the NHS across primary care and community services.
He started his career as a management support apprentice at a busy GP practice – whilst completing his Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship at Manchester Metropolitan University. He also holds chartered management status, awarded by the Chartered Management Institute.
Calum is passionate about unlocking the potential of primary care. He was an operational manager of three different COVID-19 vaccination sites during the pandemic – witnessing first-hand what primary care can do when it’s supported and the power of collaboration.
He enjoys supporting members through improvement work, having completed a continuous improvement coaching qualification whilst working in transformation for a community services provider.
Outside of work Calum plays for his local cricket club and volunteers his time as vice chairman and a junior coach – he holds an ECB level two coaching badge. He is a long-suffering Port Vale fan (someone has to support them!) and loves to chat lower-league football.
