Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Public Health England Yorkshire and Humber - Care integration, public health and ambulance services

14 / 06 / 2016

Demand for health and social care is rising as a result of increasing numbers of people living with longterm conditions, alongside an ageing population. The NHS Five Year Forward View highlights the need for an increased focus on integration and prevention to help make better use of resources, improve outcomes and help reduce demand.

Ambulance paramedics frequently care for people in their own homes, at an unplanned time. This places them in a unique position to be able to contribute to the public health agenda.

Nationally, ambulance, health and public health colleagues recognise and are keen to further enhance the role of ambulance services in the prevention and public health agenda.
