Engaging with the EU's workforce agenda

hospital staff in discussion

European law sets minimum standards on employment rights and health and safety at work and EU policy developments in the area of employment and social affairs are of key importance to the NHS in its role as Europe’s largest employer.

The NHS European Office, working closely with NHS Employers, represents the views of NHS organisations in Europe on employment policy and legislation. Our role is to inform NHS organisations of key EU developments and to promote the priorities and interests of the NHS to the EU institutions.

In this section you'll find information about policy and legislative developments in the areas of employment and social policy which have implications for the NHS.
