Coronavirus has most definitely not gone away

Darren Hughes

Responding to the Coronavirus update given today by the First Minister for Wales, Darren Hughes, Director of the Welsh NHS Confederation said:

“It will obviously be disheartening for people in Wales to hear today about the increased restrictions in Wales. However, Coronavirus has most definitely not gone away, as we have seen in some local areas in Wales.

“We ask everyone in Wales to please listen and adhere to the guidance given to them. This is not just for your benefit, but for the benefit of people in Wales who might be susceptible to the virus.

“As the First Minister outlined today, the evidence points to people contracting Coronavirus in other people’s homes. That is why the rule of six is a vital measure to keep Coronavirus under control.

“We have already seen rises of people admitted into hospital in some parts of Wales. We do not want to see the amount of people in a serious critical condition again.

“Our staff have been remarkable throughout this pandemic, and they will continue to do all they can to help people in the most need in our communities.“
