Responding to the latest Welsh Government Coronavirus Briefing, Darren Hughes, Director of the Welsh NHS Confederation said:
“We welcome the Welsh Government’s decision to publish the National Survey for Wales results monthly and it is encouraging to see some positive results around the general health and wellbeing of the population.
“These monthly results demonstrate the impact Coronavirus and the current lockdown restrictions are having on the people of Wales.
“Early signs are good, but it is very important to stress that it’s the trends in the data over time that will give a fuller and more accurate picture.
“The severe direct impact of the pandemic is clear and the restrictions put in place were necessary to prevent a significantly greater number of cases and deaths.
“While we are all experiencing a significant shift in our daily lives, the measures that have been put in place and followed by us all mean that we haven’t yet felt the true impact of the disease on the economy or our mental health and wellbeing.”
