Commenting on the Auditor General for Wales report on the accounts of NHS bodies Nesta Lloyd-Jones, Interim Director, Welsh NHS Confederation said:
“The NHS in Wales is committed to working more efficiently, prioritising spending and making savings where possible. It is encouraging that all Health Boards have continued to find savings. However, transformational change is needed to put NHS Wales on a long-term, sustainable footing.
“Our members have been working hard to plan and implement changes to service delivery and are faced with some difficult decisions to achieve significant savings.
“To realise long-term sustainability, we must be clear with the public about what the NHS can and cannot provide, and work to help people understand the importance of choosing well when it comes to their health and wellbeing."
