UK and EU must work together to protect patients in 'no deal' Brexit, says NHS Confederation

Niall Dickson

Responding to Health Minister Stephen Hammond's Written Ministerial Statement about reciprocal healthcare in the event of a no-deal Brexit, Niall Dickson, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, which represents organisations across the healthcare sector, said:

"We welcome the Government’s commitment to doing everything it can to make sure patients do not suffer immediate consequences were we to have a ‘no deal’ outcome. As we have repeatedly said, ‘no deal’ is not good for patients and should be avoided but we do urge both the EU Commission and the UK Government to work together and do everything they can to protect patients over this immediate difficult period.”
