We provide legal services to NHS organisations on high profile and day to day matters. Behind the daily stream of NHS issues covered in the press, there is typically a Capsticks solicitor providing expert legal advice.
A recent example is the junior doctor industrial action where we provided guidance, frequently asked questions, and ran a helpline (free of charge) so that trusts could prepare themselves and ensure that patient safety was not compromised. We advised on the first, widely reported merger of two foundation trusts and have acted in some of the largest inquests in the country.
Our legal advice often provides the very foundations for service delivery and transformation. We help clinical commissioning groups to future-proof their constitutions, we train boards on good governance and advise sustainability and transformation partnerships on how to structure collaborative projects to achieve maximum value in their health economies.
But we also work on innovative day to day solutions for our clients that enable them to make efficiencies. We provide many fixed fee and outsourced services such as our claims handling and our HR advisory service which help NHS organisations manage their legal spend.
Our associate membership of the NHS Confederation
We value our associate membership not only because of our shared commitment to the NHS but also because being a member provides us with a number of platforms to engage with our clients and also other associate members who are leading providers to the NHS. Whether via events or news alerts, the Confed helps us keep up to date with healthcare policy developments and provides access to research which gives us insight into current and future challenges for the NHS.
On a practical level, we appreciate the discount on the Confed annual conference and use of their Horizon Leeds venue. We also enjoy working with them as they are a friendly, talented and passionate group of individuals.
