NHS Pensions: Mental Health Medical Directors’ Forum webinar with NHS pensions expert
Friday 11th October, 9am – 10:30am, Webinar
Changes to pension rules have had a severe and negative impact on a workforce that already has huge vacancy rates. Mental health medical directors tell us that the reduction in the annual taper allowance has made services harder or impossible to staff safely, as senior clinicians reduce their hours or take early retirement to avoid huge tax bills.
The recently announced government consultation on the issue is a step in the right direction, but there is still much confusion and misinformation about what steps people can take to reduce the impact of the tax changes.
I’m pleased to invite you to a Mental Health Medical Directors’ Forum event: a webinar exploring the changing landscape of NHS pensions where we will be joined by an NHS pensions consultant who has the expert knowledge on NHS pensions, understands the particular needs of the mental health sector and has the latest insights into the changing landscape of NHS pensions for medical directors.
The webinar will take place on Friday 11 October from 9am – 10:30am.
To ensure the discussion is as useful as possible for you all, we want to understand the key questions and topics you would like to explore in this session ahead of the webinar itself.
If you would like to attend, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and include your questions or discussion topics you would like the consultant to cover by Friday 13 September.
Areas that will be covered during the webinar include the potential impacts of:
- Current government consultation
- Mental Health Officer status
- Leaving the NHS pension
- Additional income
- Abatement rules
- Upcoming Supreme Court rulings
We will share a link with the agenda, speaker and joining details for the webinar closer to the time, but for now please hold this date for our next event and share any questions or topics you would like our speaker to discuss.
