Chair of the Race and Health Observatory

NHS England has commissioned the NHS Confederation to deliver an independent Race & Health Observatory to address the long-standing health inequalities facing Black and Minority Ethnic communities in England, supporting the delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan.

An experienced board leader is sought to support the establishment of the Observatory and to in particular to appoint and lead the Observatory Board, and to be a Trustee of the NHS Confederation. This will be a diverse group who will provide oversight and guidance to the Observatory including approving its priorities and work programme.

To be successful in this role you will bring knowledge of health and equalities policy. More importantly you will be able to demonstrate the ability to develop and lead an effective board and organisation focused on impact, action and delivery to improve the health access, experience and outcomes of BME communities in England.

An allowance of £15,000 to £20,000 per annum has been approved for this role with a time commitment of 5-6 days per month.
