About strategic health authorities
Strategic health authorities (SHAs) are responsible for managing the NHS locally and acting as a conduit between NHS organisations and the Department of Health (DH).
Our vision
All of the previous 28 Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) were members of the Confederation, and the reconfigured 10 SHAs have all also retained their membership.
Become a member
The NHS Confederation brings together the organisations that make up the modern NHS across the UK.
Get involved
As a membership organisation, member involvement is our lifeblood. Members are responsible for steering the direction and content of our work, and ensuring that we meet their needs.
