The HSRN is seeking two senior NHS managers to join its Executive Board. The Board meets four times a year in London and Board members serve for a period of three years.
The NHS Confederation helped establish the HSRN in April 2005. Its creation responded to a need to find new and better ways to promote dialogue between policy makers, managers, funders and researchers to ensure research informs policy and managerial decision making.
To help ensure the HSRN meets its aims its Board is structured so that it has representation from researchers, research funders and NHS managers. In addition to the NHS Confederation's policy director, there are two NHS management representatives on the Board.
The perspective that managers bring to the Board is extremely important in ensuring the HSRN works effectively towards its goals. In particular, its principle aim to encourage the use of research findings in policy making and management, and in turn to ensure research priorities reflect the needs of the public, managers and policymakers. If you would like to join the HSRN Executive Board, please complete an application form by Friday 1 February. If there are more than two applications, an election will be held in which all HSRN member organisations will have the opportunity to vote.

Four members of the Executive Board are elected from the HSR members of the HSRN to serve for a period of three years. The terms of two current Board members, Nick Black and Bonnie Sibbald, expire in April 2008. You are invited to nominate a candidate for election to the Health Services Research Network Executive Board for 2008-10.
Your organisation may nominate one person, either from your organization or from another corporate member of the HSRN. The full list of member organisations appears on the HSRN website. The two existing Board members whose term of service is ending may stand for re-election.
Nominees must complete a nomination form, including a statement of up to 250 words outlining their suitability for the role. Nominees are asked to note that Board members are expected to:
