FHN members visited this recently built hospital, which is run by Barnet PCT, and heard how it was planned and designed. Representatives from the local community emphasised the importance of involving the public in planning new healthcare facilities: although the hospital is now built they continue to play a part in decision making and are often consulted by the PCT. Presentations also covered art, IT, communications, and PALS in the hospital. Edgware Community Hospital is a publicly funded development, which replaces a District General Hospital. At least seven NHS organisations work in the building, which features a walk in centre, birth centre, and community resource centre (which includes a health library, Citizen's Advice Bureau, and voluntary organisations providing advice and support on long term conditions.
