NHS Confederation's Deputy Policy Director Jo Webber started the day with a look at the impact the White Paper will have on community hospitals. Planners from the recently built Edgware, Farnham and West Berkshire Community Hospitals described how they planned their buildings and involved staff and the public. In an interactive session in the afternoon, Andy Black explained his vision for a community health facility of the future. Claire Goodchild from Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP) and architect James Philipps also contributed their thoughts on community facilities. Discussions during the day focussed on the need for joined up local planning, and the fact that new community services do not necessarily need to be attached to/delivered from a building.
