The HSRN has arranged for members to have access to the King's Fund Current Awareness Service, a useful fortnightly bulletin which covers material added to the King's Fund library database in the previous two weeks, including abstracts of articles, DH circulars, press releases, books and reports.

HSRN response to the Ministry of Justice Data Sharing Review
Richard Thomas, the Information Commissioner, and Dr Mark Walport, Director of the Welcome Trust, are carrying out an independent consultation on the use and sharing of personal information in the public and private sectors.

The Science Review team in the Government Office for Science is starting a review of the quality, management and use of science in the Department of Health. The HSRN has submitted this response to its consultation.

Published for our Second Annual Research Meeting, this briefing provides information on the Network's achievements in its second year, the coming years work programme and how you can get more involved.

HSRN supplement of the Journal of Health Services Research & Policy
A special supplement of the JHSRP was commissioned following our first Annual Research Meeting in June 2006. It was published in April and contains seven papers presented at the meeting. The seven papers reflect the range of methods and topics in HSR.

Implementing best research for best health: a new national health research strategy
Overview of the new strategy intended to make research easier and quicker to get started and improve its quality and relevance to patients.
The HSRN submitted its response to Sir David Cooksey's review on the best institutional arrangements for a new single health research fund.
Sir David Cooksey's review followed the announcement in the March 2006 Budget that a new single health research fund of at least £1bn is to be created, joining the Department of Health's R&D budget to the Office of Science and Technology's health research budgets.
