Welsh NHS Confederation Response to radiology services report by the Auditor General for Wales

Welsh NHS Confederation

Responding to a report published today by the Auditor General for Wales, which calls for clear and targeted action to ensure that radiology services can cope with future demand, Vanessa Young, Director of Welsh NHS Confederation said:

“We welcome this report and the recognition that waiting time targets for radiology examinations are currently being met and radiology services are generally well managed.  NHS leaders share the Auditor General’s concerns about the sustainability of the services in the longer term in the face of increasing demand. We are working closely with Welsh Government on a strategic national approach to tackling staffing shortages, equipment investment requirements and IT system improvements.”
