BME Leadership Forum

The Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Leadership Forum was founded in 2003 to help ensure that national health services meet the needs of BME communities. It provides members with a strong collective voice and a platform to engage with policymakers and key opinion formers from across the healthcare sector.

Its primary purpose is to influence health and social care policy to promote race equality within the NHS. The forum also runs a number of initiatives which promote the benefits of diversity within health leadership, and support BME health service managers, board directors and leaders.

The forum welcomes its members from across senior and middle management positions within NHS Confederation member organisations.

The BME Leadership Forum is hosted by the NHS Confederation in partnership with the Royal College of Nurses.

Vision

To support, develop, inspire and positively promote BME leaders of the future in the healthcare sector in England and Wales working in partnership with the Royal College of Nursing.

Leadership team

The forum is led by a leadership team comprising of the Chair, Maxine James, and Vice Chairs Jagtar Singh and Nola Ishmael.

The leadership team is supported by a steering group made up of staff at the NHS Confederation, NHS Employers and the Royal College of Nursing.
