Our work

Our work is driven by our commitment to improving mental health care and the provision of mental health and disability services.

We work with our members to:

• influence mental health legislation, regulation and policy
• ensure that system reform works for mental health services

We do this in a number of ways, for example through meeting with policy and decision makers to put forward the views of our members and ensure that they are counted.

We also work in partnership with a range of organisations to publish recommendations on the future of mental health services, as well as on specific issues that effect our members.

Work is underway or planned on a variety of subjects including:

• commissioning
• prison health
• children and young people's mental health
• older people
• productivity and efficiency
• learning disabilities
• new mental health legislation
• psychological therapies
• payment by results (PbR)

We currently have several service groups which focus on specific mental health issues. The groups meet regularly and consist of members with expert knowledge in their field. Each group has a work programme which feeds into the wider Network objectives.
