Just as the NHS Confederation is the only organisation to bring together and represent the whole health and care system, we’re the only clinical systems organisation to work with every major healthcare sector – joining up healthcare providers to ensure they have the information about patients they need in order to give them the best care possible.
Because our focus, aims and aspirations align so well, together we can support health and social care providers to implement their sustainability and transformation plans (STPs), share best practice, realise the potential of the Five Year Forward View (FYFV) and deliver better healthcare.
Supporting your healthcare aims
Our fully interoperable systems improve safety and quality, remove paper processes and make healthcare teams more efficient and effective. Benefiting both healthcare professional and patients, our clinical systems and healthcare technologies are used by care providers in every health setting, from GPs and community pharmacists to community, mental health and secondary care clinicians.
With solutions that bring together hospital, GP, administrative and audit data, organisations can see where they can make improvements and can pre-emptively identify patients who need health and social care support the most. We also give patients the tools to better self-manage, so that more patients are helped without having to attend care settings.
What we do
Patients are empowered to manage their own care with Patient.info, our health and wellbeing website that’s used by 18.3 million patients and healthcare professionals a month. They’re also supported with Patient Access, an online service that gives them access to GP services outside of the practice and also allows them to see and share their own primary care health record.
We’ve developed our solutions to meet the needs of providers and their patients – that’s why 10,000 healthcare organisations across the UK have chosen our clinical systems.
Our systems are used by 81 per cent of acute trusts, particularly in urgent and emergency care and hospital pharmacies. And 82 per cent of programmes in England use our software for managing diabetic eye screening, which has helped assess 11 million patients since 2005.
It’s not just hospital pharmacies we’re supporting either. Almost 50 per cent of the UK’s pharmacies will rely on ProScript – the most widely used community pharmacy software in the market – to manage dispensing and stock control, while also connecting them with GPs.
We’re also connecting care with EMIS Web, the UK’s most popular primary care clinical system, which allows primary, community, children’s and mental health care teams to securely view, share and use electronic patient records. Secondary care clinicians also have access to electronic patient records that are updated in real time with Symphony.
Plenty of experience
We understand the call for innovation and new ways of working in the NHS - we were founded in the 1980s by two GPs who wanted to revolutionise the way they accessed, recorded and used patient information. Since then, we’ve worked to improve care by joining up organisations and integrating data to make sure patient information is available when and where it’s required.
