Jo Webber has been appointed as the new deputy policy director of the NHS Confederation which represents more than 90 per cent of NHS organisations in the UK.
Jo joined the Confederation in October 2004 as Policy Manager for areas including children's services, older people and adult social care, public health and a range of primary care issues.
She was previously director of clinical services at Broxtowe and Hucknall Primary Care Trust in Nottinghamshire and acting director of operations and assistant director of nursing at Nottingham Community Health NHS Trust.
Before moving into NHS management, Jo originally trained as a nurse - qualifying in 1975 - and worked in clinical specialties including neurosurgery, children's high dependency care and community nursing.
Jo said: "I am delighted to be given the opportunity to take on the newly created role of deputy policy director with the NHS Confederation to further strengthen our policy team at a time of radical change in the NHS.
"We want to influence the policy debate at a national and local level on behalf of our members who are responsible for delivering a huge programme of service improvements across the health service."
