Press release: NHS Confederation Chief Executive voted most effective health lobbyist by health hotel members

Dr Gill Morgan, Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation - the UK-wide membership body that represents more than 90 per cent of NHS organisations - has been voted health's most effective lobbyist in a survey conducted by Health Service Journal magazine.
She was the clear winner of an e-mail survey of the chief executives of members of the Health Hotel, a collaboration of 36 organisations who have joined together to promote the health sector.
This unique coalition aims to raise awareness of health issues at the three main party political conferences and is hosting a series of fringe events and receptions at each conference.
Health Hotel chief executives were asked, "which individuals are health's most effective lobbyists?"
Dr Gill Morgan has been Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation since February 2002 after a career in both medicine and management, latterly as Chief Executive of North and East Devon Health Authority, and she was awarded the DBE in June 2004.
The NHS Confederation represents more than 90 per cent of the organisations that make up the NHS throughout the UK - its members include the majority of NHS trusts, foundation trusts, primary care trusts and health authorities in England; trusts and local health boards in Wales; NHS boards and special boards in Scotland; and health and social service trusts and boards in Northern Ireland.
Health Service Journal is a media partner of the Health Hotel and devotes a substantial section of its current edition (September 22) to its survey of Health Hotel chief executives.
