Press release: Creation of delivery group positive step forward

The Scottish NHS Confederation, which represents NHS boards, has welcomed the Health Minister's announcement today of the creation of a delivery group within the Scottish Executive Health Department as a positive step.

Scottish NHS Confederation Director Hilary Robertson said:   "The Confederation has previously called for a move away from late interventions to a more collaborative and supportive approach to assist boards to meet targets and deliver on their local plans. The announcement today means there will be an extra option available to the Executive to provide support to boards at a point before identified problems become severe."

Ms Robertson added:   "Boards may feel isolated if they encounter persistent problems which are difficult to deal with but do not warrant intervention under the current system.  The help and support available from the new delivery group therefore has the potential to be a useful addition to existing approaches."
