Press release: NHS Confederation Announces New Director of NHS Employers' Organisation

The NHS Confederation has announced that Steve Barnett will be the new director of the NHS employers' organisation, and Alastair Henderson will be deputy director.
Steve is currently senior director of human resources in the Immigration and Nationality directorate at the Home Office, where he has worked for the past three years. Prior to joining the Home Office he was deputy director of HR at the Department of Health for three years and was previously director of HR and organisational development at Central Manchester Healthcare NHS Trust.
Alastair has been acting director of the employers' organisation for the past six months, having previously been the NHS Confederation's policy manager on workforce issues for four years.
Steve will formally take up post on 4 January 2005 and until the end of the year Alastair will continue to have day-to-day responsibility for employers' organisation work.
Dr Gill Morgan, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, said "I am delighted we have appointed Steve and Alastair to these important roles. Shaping and running the NHS employers' organisation will be an exciting challenge and I am glad we have such a capable and experienced team leading the organisation."
