Press release: Peter Mount elected as new NHS Confederation Chairman
12 Jun 2003
The NHS Confederation is delighted to announce that Peter Mount has been elected as the new Chairman of the organisation. Peter is the Chairman of Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospitals NHS Trust, and replaces the current Confederation Chairman, Dianne Jeffrey, who steps down after a three year term. Alan Burns, Chief Executive of Trent Strategic Health Authority has been elected as the Confederation's Vice Chairman.
Peter said: "It is a great honour to chair the Confederation at this key time for the organisation. We are faced with a number of challenges, reflecting the changing nature of the NHS and the Confederation's growing role within the service, and I am looking forward to leading the Confederation during this period."
Dianne Jeffrey, the out-going Chair, said: "I am delighted that Peter has been elected as the new Chair. The Confederation is going from strength to strength, and I am glad to be passing the reins into such capable hands. I hope he enjoys the role as much as I have."
The new Chairman and Vice Chairman will take office following the Confederation's AGM on Friday 27 June, during the Confederation's annual conference.
