Press release: NHS Confederation welcomes consultation into managers code of conduct
23 May 2002
Responding to the publication of the consultation on the code of conduct for managers, Confederation chief executive, Gill Morgan said, "we welcome the publication of the code and were pleased to be involved in drawing it up. The Confederation has consistently supported the need for such a code."
"The code clearly sets out the values and behaviour expected of NHS managers, but importantly, also outlines how they themselves can be expected to be treated. We believe it will enhance the standing of management in the NHS."
She continued, "this will demonstrate that NHS managers share the same values as doctors and nurses and go into healthcare for most of the same reasons."
"The Confederation is pleased that the Department of Health has recognised that the vast majority of managers in the NHS are highly principled, value driven people. But we agree that failure must be dealt with."
