Press release: Major programme of events to support links between PCTs launched
23 Jan 2002
A major programme of events designed to help develop closer co-operation between Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and encourage the formation of strong networks, will take place between February and April this year. The NHS Confederation has been asked to deliver a series of seminars to PCT leads as part of the Modernisation Agency's National Primary & Care Trust Development Programme, with support from the NHS Alliance and National Association of Primary Care (NAPC).
Commenting on behalf of the Primary & Care Trust Development Team, Barbara Hakin said: "It is really important that PCTs work together and with their partner organisations and Strategic Health Authorities (StHAs) to deliver services for patients across wider geographies. We hope that these events will provide an opportunity for the key players in PCTs across each Strategic Health Authority patch to meet, start to get to know one another and work out how they are going to work collaboratively."
Nigel Edwards, acting chief executive of the Confederation welcomed the appointment as an opportunity for the Confederation to continue to support networking opportunities for senior leaders within PCTs. He said: "We are pleased to be working in partnership with the Primary & Care Trust Development Team, the NHS Alliance and NAPC on such an important agenda."
The seminars are for chief executives, lay chairs and clinical chairs of all PCTs. The content of the events will be specific to each of the 28 StHA areas and will be tailored to meet the development needs of the trusts.
The seminars will build on previous events such as the PCT Chief Executive 24 hour network and the Chairs Confidential Forums.
PCTs can book delegates onto these events by calling Jocelyn Fogarty on 020 7959 7266.
